| Obverse description | Radiate head of Helios facing three-quarters right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with characteristic flowing locks of hair framing the face. The solar crown projects boldly from the deity's head in multiple long, tapering rays, creating a dramatic starburst effect around the effigy. The facial features are finely modelled with a smooth, idealised quality typical of late Rhodian plintophoric coinage. A small control mark appears in the lower left field. The portrait fills the flan with confidence, reflecting the high artistic standards maintained by the Rhodian mint during this period. |
