Obverse description The hero Thessalos depicted in full figure, wearing a long cloak and petasos suspended behind him by a cord around his neck, engaged in a struggle to the left with a bull straining to escape. The hero grips the bull firmly around the neck with his left arm while wielding a short club in his raised right hand, conveying vigorous movement and tension in an archaic style typical of Thessalian coinage.

Reverse description A bridled horse galloping to the right with reins trailing freely behind, rendered in the dynamic style characteristic of early Thessalian silver coinage.
