Obverse description Bust of Mithridates II facing left, depicted with a short, neatly trimmed beard and draped in a jewelled torque necklace. The king wears a distinctive Parthian royal diadem tied at the back, with flowing ribbons falling behind the neck, and a tiara adorned with a beaded band. The hair is rendered in fine parallel striae swept back from the forehead in the Hellenistic tradition. The portrait is contained within a dotted border, characteristic of the Margiana mint issues.
