| Reverse description | Arsaces I seated in three-quarter view to the right upon an omphalos throne, depicted as an archer holding a bow in the right hand. The central device is framed within a distinctive dotted square border. A Greek legend surrounds the scene within the border, reading ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΡΣΑΚΟΥ ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ, translating as 'Of the Great King Arsaces, the Illustrious.' The composition reflects the Hellenistic artistic conventions employed at the Ecbatana mint during the reign of Mithridates II. |
