Obverse description Facing left bust of the local nymph Sinope in high relief, rendered in fine Classical style. The hair is elaborately dressed, drawn back smoothly over the crown and gathered into a sakkos at the nape, with a cluster of curls falling in tight spirals at the temple and forehead. The facial features are finely modelled with a well-defined eye, straight nose, and parted lips, conveying the idealized beauty characteristic of 4th-century BC Pontic coinage.
