Dyrrachion — the Roman-era name for the Greek colony of Epidamnos — sat at the western terminus of the Via Egnatia, making it one of the busiest transit points between Italy and the Aegean world. The city's drachms circulated widely across that corridor for decades, and the magistrate-name pairings struck on them, here Meniskos with Lysikou, are thought to identify local officials responsible for a specific emission rather than a continuous series. Exactly what those offices entailed is still debated.
