| Obverse description | Youthful beardless head of Heracles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress knotted at the throat, the scalp and open jaws of the lion rendered in high relief over the cranium. The hair of the hero emerges in tight curls at the temple and nape, reflecting the Lysimachean adaptation of the Alexandrine iconographic tradition. The portrait is rendered with fine detail and occupies nearly the full flan. |
