| Obverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles in right profile, identified by the scalp of the Nemean lion worn as a headdress, the beast's muzzle and open jaws visible above the forehead and the knotted forepaws falling beneath the chin. The modelling is finely rendered in the Hellenistic tradition, with curling locks escaping beneath the lion skin. The field is plain, and the type follows the canonical Alexandrine coinage imagery associated with the heroic lineage of the Macedonian kings. |

| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to the left upon a low stool-throne, his upper body nude and his lower body draped; he extends his right hand forward, upon which an eagle with closed wings is perched, while his left hand holds a long sceptre. In the left field, the forepart of a winged Pegasos facing left is placed above the forepart of a lion facing left, together forming the mint control symbol for Lampsacus. A torch appears beneath the throne. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ (in the name of Alexander III) would be expected on strict Alexandrine types, but this posthumous issue struck under Lysimachus bears the legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ disposed in two lines in the fields. |
