Obverse description Head of the youthful, beardless Heracles facing right, wearing the scalp of the Nemean lion as a headdress, with the beast's jaws framing the forehead and the paws knotted at the neck. The portrait is rendered in fine Hellenistic style with carefully articulated curling locks visible beneath the lion skin. The fleshy, idealised facial features are consistent with the Alexander-type coinage and convey the divine heroic identity of the subject. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered silver issues of this period.
