| Obverse description | Head of the nymph Sinope facing left, her hair elaborately dressed and bound, wearing a stephane or wreath, with loose curls falling behind the neck. An eagle is depicted perched on the dolphin to the right of the portrait, a characteristic Sinopean iconographic device. The bust is rendered in fine high relief, typical of late Classical Greek die-cutting, and the whole is framed by a beaded border encircling the flan. |
