| Obverse description | Bust of Khusru I (Chosroes I) facing right, wearing an elaborate three-toothed crown adorned with a forward-facing crescent whose horns point upward, six-pointed stars positioned above the crescent and rear crown teeth, and a vertical bar surmounted by a fixed crescent enclosing a globe formed from a tongue of flame, the bar decorated with small ribbons along its pointed rim. A crescent with a dependent globe protrudes from the crown rim, and additional crescents appear symmetrically at the shoulders and behind the rim on both sides and below. The king wears a diadem of two rows of pellets, with a hair-globe at the nape of the neck, pellet-marked earrings, a necklace with pendant, and ornamental dress fittings; ends of a fluttering ribbon emerge from behind the shoulders. The field is bordered by a beaded rim, and a Pahlavi inscription accompanies the royal effigy. |
