Obverse description Draped bust of Khosrau II (Khusro II) facing right, wearing an elaborate mural crown with two wings surmounted by a star set within a crescent. A Pahlavi legend behind the royal effigy reads 'GDE / ʾp̄zwt' (meaning '[may his] glory increase'), while the inscription before the bust reads 'hwslwb' ('Husraw' / 'Khosrau'), identifying the sovereign. The portrait is rendered in the refined linear style characteristic of late Sasanian coinage, with detailed drapery articulated around the shoulders. The field is consistent with standard Sasanian royal imagery of the early seventh century AD.
