Additional information

Elymais occupied the mountainous territory northeast of Susiana — modern Khuzestan — and its Kamnaskirid rulers struck coins in increasingly debased silver as Parthian pressure mounted throughout the first century BC. By the reign of Kamnaskires VI, billon had effectively replaced true silver, reflecting both economic strain and the kingdom's diminishing independence from Parthian overlordship. The dynasty would survive only a few more generations before Elymais became fully absorbed into the Parthian sphere.
