Obverse description Youthful bare head of the hero Heracles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp and forepaws draped over the crown and sides of the head, rendered in high relief with bold, naturalistic modeling. The beardless facial features display fine engraving characteristic of the Sardis mint, with a pronounced brow, well-defined nose, and parted lips. A beaded border encircles the design within the coin's irregular flan.

Reverse description Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a backless throne, his body draped from the waist, holding an eagle with wings closed on his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre upright in his left hand. In the left field, a monogram appears above a torch, serving as mint control marks specific to the Sardis issue. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the coin as struck in the name of Alexander. A beaded border frames the composition.
