Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, beardless, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The modelling is of fine Hellenistic style, with naturalistically rendered curling hair visible beneath the pelt and strongly articulated facial features. The lion's open jaws frame the hero's brow, with the mane rendered in bold, deeply incised striations extending into the left field.
