Obverse description Youthful bare head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp tied beneath the chin and the paws knotted at the throat. The facial features are rendered with fine Hellenistic artistry, displaying well-defined brow, almond-shaped eye, and naturalistic modelling of cheek and jaw. The mane of the lion skin falls in stylized striations across the left field. The whole is contained within a plain border of dots.
