Obverse description Bust of the Sasanian king facing right in high relief, rendered in the late Sasanian artistic tradition, wearing an elaborate winged crown with a crescent and globes surmounted by a korymbos. The effigy is encircled by a beaded border with concentric ring ornaments in the field. Arabic inscriptions appear in the marginal legend flanking the bust, replacing or supplementing the original Pahlavi legends characteristic of Arab-Sasanian coinage.

Reverse description Central Zoroastrian fire altar flanked by two attendant figures standing in profile, facing inward toward the altar in the traditional Sasanian manner. The altar is depicted with a flame rising from its summit. Pahlavi or Arabic marginal legends encircle the design within a beaded border. Crescents or star-and-crescent symbols appear in the field to either side of the attendants, as is typical of Arab-Sasanian transitional drachms of this period.
