| Obverse description | Draped bust of the city nymph Sinope facing left, her hair bound in a sakkos and adorned with a beaded necklace at the throat; a loose lock of hair falls behind the ear. An aphlaston (stern ornament) is depicted to the left of the effigy, serving as a civic symbol of Sinope's maritime identity. The modelling of the face is refined, with high-relief rendering of the features consistent with late Classical Greek die-cutting. The overall composition fills the flan with confident artistry characteristic of Pontic workshop production of the late 4th century BC. |
