Obverse description Nude horseman advancing to right, seated bareback upon a walking horse, controlling the animal with reins held in the left hand and raising the right arm. A row of pellets arches above the horse along the upper field, serving as a decorative border element. The composition is rendered in the early Severe Style, with bold, confident die-cutting typical of Syracusan coinage under Gelon I. The lower field is bordered by a plain exergual line.
