| Obverse description | Celticised laureate and bearded head of Zeus facing right, rendered in the characteristic abstract Celtic idiom derived from Macedonian prototypes. The laureate wreath is dissolved into a series of bold pellets and comma-shaped leaf forms radiating across the field, while the facial features — eye, nose, and beard — are reduced to schematic, curvilinear elements. A prominent S-curved tendril motif occupies the lower field before the chin, a hallmark of the Dreiecksornament stylistic group. The flan is irregularly shaped with a slightly uneven surface consistent with hand-hammered Celtic coinage of the eastern European tradition. |
