Reverse description Lion standing left with head turned back to right in a vigilant pose, a hallmark device of Milesian coinage. Above the lion's back, an eight-rayed star is prominently placed in the upper field. To the left of the lion, a monogram combining the letters MI identifies the issuing city of Miletos. The magistrate's name ΔΙΟΠΟΜΠΟΣ is inscribed in the field, attributing this issue to the moneyer Diopompos. The reverse is executed in the bold, confident style characteristic of late Classical Asia Minor civic coinage.
