| Reverse description | Central field dominated by a trident-like symbol (trishula) or stylised fire altar motif surrounded by dense Brahmi legends arranged in a circular or irregular pattern around the periphery of the flan. The legends, rendered in early Brahmi script, are characteristic of the Maitraka dynastic issues and identify the issuing authority. The design is executed in low relief with irregular flan edges typical of hammered silver issues of this period. Secondary symbols and decorative devices occupy the remaining field spaces. |
