Obverse description Griffin springing to the left in high relief, rendered with a naturalistic vitality characteristic of Thracian coinage of the period. The creature displays a powerful feline body with a prominently curled tail, outstretched forelegs, and a raptor's head with open beak. The wing is rendered with fine feather detailing fanning upward across the field. The type follows the long-established Abderitan griffin tradition on a plain, slightly irregular flan.

Reverse description A stag standing to the left within a shallow incuse square, with the name of the magistrate ΑΘΗΝΗΣ (Athenes) inscribed above the animal in Greek letters. The incuse square forms the standard reverse framework of Abderan coinage, and the magistrate's name is arranged along the upper border of the depression. The design and epigraphy are consistent with the civic coinage of Abdera during the mid-fourth century BC.
