| Obverse description | Draped bust of Ardashir III facing right, wearing the distinctive Sasanian royal crown surmounted by a crenellated mural band and a globe finial, with a pendant earring and elaborate beaded necklace visible at the shoulder. The king's hair is dressed in tight curls beneath the crown, and a fine ribbon trails behind. The effigy is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with star-and-crescent symbols flanking the bust in the left and right fields, and a crescent-and-star ornament below. The Inscriptional Pahlavi legend identifying the ruler runs along the outer margin of the inner border. |
