| Obverse description | Bust of Ardashir III facing right in high relief, wearing a distinctive mural crown surmounted by a frontal crescent, two wings, and a korymbos set upon a crescent, with ribbons at both shoulders—a star-tipped ribbon on the left and a crescent-and-ribbon on the right. Stars flank the crown in the field, while a series of star-in-crescent devices ornament the outer margin. A tamgha countermark appears in a circular incuse punch to the upper right of the royal bust. The effigy is rendered in the characteristic late Sasanian hammered style, with fine detail in the crown elements and facial profile. Inscriptional Pahlavi legends appear in the surrounding field. |
