Obverse description Bearded male effigy of Ardakhshir IV facing left, wearing an elaborate mural or stepped crown adorned with a crescent finial, the long wavy hair falling in thick locks over the shoulder. The king is depicted in profile with strong, stylized facial features characteristic of late Persis dynastic portraiture. An Aramaic inscription runs vertically along the right field of the coin.
