| Obverse description | Youthful bare head of Heracles in right profile, the hero's characteristic Nemean lion skin headdress draped over the skull with the forelegs knotted beneath the chin and the mane rendered in deeply incised, flowing striations extending into the left field. The facial features are finely modelled in the Hellenistic tradition, with well-defined brow, pronounced nose, and slightly parted lips, conveying the idealized heroic portrait associated with Alexander III coinage. No legend on the obverse. |
