Obverse description Radiate head of Helios facing three-quarters to the right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curling locks of hair and prominent radiating crown of solar rays emanating from the crown of the head. The facial features are sculpted in the accomplished Hellenistic style characteristic of Rhodian coinage, with softly modeled cheeks, a slightly parted mouth, and a serene expression. The neck is bare, and the effigy fills the flan with commanding presence. No legend appears on the obverse. The die work reflects the high artistic standards associated with the Rhodian mint during the plintophoric period.
