Obverse description Facing right, the youthful head of Herakles rendered in fine Hellenistic style, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, with the beast's knotted forepaws visible at the neck. The mane is rendered in deeply struck, flowing locks framing the hero's strong facial features. The eye is almond-shaped, the lips slightly parted, and the overall workmanship reflects the high-quality die engraving characteristic of the Sardis mint under Alexander III.
