Reverse description A caduceus (kerykeion) of Hermes depicted upright in the right field, with entwined serpents and spreading wings at the top, a characteristic civic symbol of Erythrai. To the left of the caduceus, the civic ethnic EPY (for ΕΡΥΘΡΑΙΩΝ) appears above the magistrate's name ΑΒΡΩΝ, both inscribed in Greek characters arranged vertically in the field. The design is characteristic of the late fourth to early third century BC civic coinage of Erythrai, executed in the hammered technique on an irregular flan.
