| Obverse description | Bust of the Sasanian king in three-quarter facing view, derived from late Sasanian prototypes, wearing an elaborate winged crown surmounted by a crescent and globe finial, with voluminous curled hair and a beaded diadem. The face is rendered in the stylized Sasanian tradition with large almond-shaped eyes and a prominent beard. Flanking the bust on either side are small crescent and pellet symbols in the field. An Arabic bismillah legend or governor's name appears in the margin, reflecting the transitional Arab-Sasanian coinage style. |
