| Reverse description | Incuse mirror image of the obverse type, struck in the distinctive South Italian incuse technique whereby the entire design is sunk into the flan rather than raised. The figure of Poseidon striding right with chlamys over both arms is rendered in intaglio, while the trident, the principal attribute of the deity, appears in relief against the sunken field. The incuse square fills the entire reverse, with the retrograde ethnic lettering visible in the field. |
