Obverse description Veiled head of Hera facing right, wearing a tall polos crown and with a sceptre carried over the shoulder; a control symbol — cantharus, grasshopper, fly, or trident — appears in the left field. Below the chin, a small Greek letter Gamma (Γ) is sometimes present as an additional control mark. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic style typical of South Italian coinage of the late 3rd century BC, with fine linear drapery at the neck and a carefully articulated veil.
