Obverse description Eagle depicted in dynamic flight to the left, with wings fully spread and tail feathers fanned, rendered in bold relief against a flat field. The bird's head is turned to the left with hooked beak clearly defined, and the powerful talons are visible beneath the body. The design fills the flan with impressive naturalistic energy characteristic of Cretan die-cutting of the early Hellenistic period. The surrounding border consists of a row of dots or beads following the irregular flan edge.
