| Obverse description | Full-face Gorgoneion depicted in high relief, occupying the entire field. The apotropaic visage displays wide-set eyes with heavy lids, a broad flat nose, and an open mouth with prominent fangs from which a bifurcated tongue protrudes downward. The head is framed by coiling serpentine locks rendered with fine detail, characteristic of the archaic-to-classical transitional style employed at Neapolis. |
