Reverse description Herakles depicted kneeling to right in a dynamic archer's pose, drawing a strung bow; the hero is clad in the Nemean lion skin, its forelegs knotted across the chest. A dolphin appears in the right field, a maritime symbol alluding to Thasos's island identity and seafaring commerce. The ethnic legend ΘΑΣΙΟΝ is inscribed in archaic Greek characters, distributed around the field. The incuse square technique characteristic of early Thasian silver coinage frames the reverse design.
