Obverse description Facing right, the bearded head of Dionysos is rendered in fine archaic Greek style, laureate with an ivy wreath adorned with berries positioned prominently at the forehead. The portrait exhibits strong sculptural relief characteristic of Thasian silver coinage of the early Classical period. The field is plain, with no surrounding legend, allowing the deity's effigy to dominate the flan.
