Obverse description Forepart of a lion facing right in high relief, depicted in a bold archaic style with mouth open and tongue visible, displaying prominent mane rendered with fine parallel striations. The right forepaw is raised and extended forward in a striking pose. The design occupies the full flan, characteristic of early Knidian silver coinage of the late archaic period.

Reverse description Draped head of Aphrodite facing right, finely rendered in archaic style, hair elaborately dressed with a sakkos or headband adorned with a necklace of beads visible at the nape. The portrait is set within a shallow incuse square with plain fields, the whole struck in a careful, detailed manner consistent with the celebrated artistic tradition of Knidian coinage of the early fifth century BC.
