| Obverse description | A rooster standing to the right in high relief, rendered with fine archaic detail: the breast plumage indicated by rows of pellets, the wing feathers delineated by incised parallel striations, and the tail feathers rising in a sweeping arc. The bird's leg rests upon a short groundline element. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, characteristic of early Sicilian coinage. No legend is present, the rooster serving as the principal civic emblem of Himera. |
