| Obverse description | Bearded male head in left profile, wearing a striated tiara or satrapal headdress with a rolled brim, rendered in high relief. The beard is depicted with fine granular curls arranged in a globular mass, characteristic of Achaemenid-period Persian portraiture. The facial features are boldly modelled, with a prominent nose and strong jaw. The field is plain and unadorned, with no legend or inscription present. The style reflects the hybrid Greek-Persian artistic tradition prevalent in the western Achaemenid satrapies during the fifth and fourth centuries BC. |

| Reverse description | A lion-griffin in left profile, depicted in a dynamic crouching or attacking posture within a square incuse frame bordered by a beaded or dotted inner border. The creature displays the forequarters and head of a lion combined with the wings and hindquarters of a griffin, rendered with considerable energy and detail. An Aramaic inscription appears to the upper left within the incuse square. The square incuse punch is a hallmark of Achaemenid satrapal coinage, reflecting both local Levantine and broader Persian imperial artistic conventions. The overall composition is characteristic of the Samarian series as catalogued under HGC 10#393. |
