| Obverse description | Forepart of a winged griffin advancing to the right, with the head turned slightly upward, the beak open and the wing prominently arched over the body. The creature is rendered in vigorous archaic relief with deeply carved feather details visible along the wing surface. The design fills the irregularly shaped flan characteristic of early Phokaian coinage, with no legend or inscription in the field. |
