Obverse description Two male facing heads side by side in high relief, the left head inverted relative to the right — a distinctive and iconographically unique device associated with the mint of Istros. Both faces are rendered in the archaic-to-early classical Greek style, with broad almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and schematic hair. The inverted head at left exhibits a slightly more frontal, mask-like quality, while the upright head at right displays greater naturalism. No legend appears on the obverse.
