| Obverse description | Janiform conjoined busts rendered in fine archaic Greek style: to the left, the diademed head of Hera facing left, her hair bound with a decorated diadem; to the right, the laureate head of Zeus facing right, his beard rendered with carefully incised parallel locks. The two divine profiles share a common neck, presented in bold relief against a smooth, slightly convex flan. The juxtaposition of the two deities references the divine patrons of Tenedos and is a hallmark of this island city's coinage. |
