Reverse description A deeply impressed incuse square divided into four irregular compartments by raised ridges, creating a mill-sail or quadripartite pattern typical of early Archaic Greek coinage technique. The surfaces within each compartment are rough and granular, reflecting the primitive punching method used to drive the metal into the obverse die. No inscription or subsidiary device is present. The incuse is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck production of the early fifth century BC.
