Obverse description Facing three-quarter right, the laureate head of the nymph Larissa is rendered in fine archaic-to-classical transitional style, her hair gathered and bound at the crown, adorned with a triple-pendant earring and a pearl necklace. The facial features are sensitively modeled with full cheeks and a serene expression characteristic of Thessalian coinages of the period. The legend ΛΑΡΙΣΑ appears in the field, identifying both the city and the nymph. The portrait is set within a plain round flan typical of hammered silver issues of the region.
