Reverse description Armored warrior advancing to the left, his head turned back to the right in a pose suggestive of rearguard action, attired in petasos and chlamys. He carries a short thrusting spear in his raised right hand and bears a round shield decorated with a crescent device together with two additional spears in his left hand; a sword in a scabbard suspended from a baldric completes his panoply. The ethnic legend ΠΕΛΙΝΝΑΙΚΟΝ is inscribed in the field, identifying the emission as a product of the Thessalian city of Pelinna. The style is bold and characteristic of fifth-century Thessalian engraving traditions.
