| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in the archaic-transitional style characteristic of the mid-5th century BC. The goddess wears a crested Attic helmet adorned with an olive wreath and a decorative floral scroll above the visor. Her almond-shaped eye is depicted in the frontal convention typical of early Classical Athenian coinage. The neck and cheek-guard of the helmet frame the face with fine engraved detail, and the hair falls in a series of wavy locks visible beneath the helmet's rim. |
