| Reverse description | A large kantharos (two-handled wine cup) depicted in full face view, centrally positioned on the flan, with tall elegant handles curving outward from the rim and a pronounced footed stem below. The ethnic abbreviation ΤΗΙ appears above the rim of the vessel, flanked by the handles, identifying the city of Teos. The magistrate's name ΑΡΙΣΤΩΝΑ is inscribed horizontally in two lines flanking the body of the cup, reading ΑΡΙΣ to the left and ΤΩΝΑ to the right. A small triangular symbol or control mark appears in the lower left field. The composition is well-centered and typical of the civic coinage of Teos from the mid-fourth century BC. |
