Obverse description Draped bust of a female deity facing right, her hair adorned with a wreath of wheat ears, evoking Persephone or Demeter in the Hellenistic tradition. Three dolphins are disposed around the effigy in the field, serving as emblematic symbols of the coastal city of Emporion. The style is characteristic of late Hellenistic Greek colonial coinage from the Iberian peninsula, with naturalistic but somewhat schematized facial features. The flan is irregularly shaped, typical of hand-struck hammered coinage of the period.
