| Obverse description | Facing right profile bust of Hera, patron goddess of Argos, wearing a tall stephane (crown) decorated with palmette ornaments and a single pendant earring. The goddess's hair is rendered in careful detail beneath the elaborate headdress. A single Greek letter sigma (Σ) appears to the left of the portrait, oriented vertically upward, serving as a magistrate's or control mark. The style is characteristic of the mid-fourth century BC Argive mint, displaying accomplished die-cutting in the Peloponnesian tradition. |

| Reverse description | The hero Diomedes, depicted nude save for a chlamys (short military cloak) knotted around his neck and falling behind his shoulders, strides vigorously to the right. In his raised right hand he brandishes a dagger, while his extended left arm clutches the Palladion, the sacred cult image of Athena that he famously seized from Troy. The ethnic legend ΑΡΓΕΙΩΝ (of the Argives) is disposed around the field, and the control letter nu (Ν) appears between the figure's legs. The dynamic composition reflects the civic pride of Argos in its mythological heritage. |
